Greek Christmas traditions

Christmas in Greece

The festival period lasts from 30 November to 6 January on the Greek calendar. 25 and 26 December is a public holiday in Greece. Christmas is known as Christougena (Χριστούγεννα) and people wish 'Merry Christmas' to each other saying 'Kala Christougana'. Most families set up Christmas trees and shops have decorations and lights. Presents are placed under the Christmas tree and are opened on 1 January, St Basil’s Day. In Greek tradition, Basil’s [of Caesarea] name was given to Father Christmas and he is supposed to visit children and give presents on 1 January [when Basil’s memory is celebrated], unlike other European traditions, where this person is Saint Nicholas and comes every Christmas.

And the winner is...

... the SPANISH LOGO! The Bulgarian kids  interpreted the Spanish logo like this: the pencils symbolize the children from all the teams who live together in the EU and who will have their sensitivity to all EU issues sharpened and also become  smart and "well-groomed" and more like each other.

The winner logo resulted as follow:

These are the logos of the participant countries. Aren't they nice? It will be very difficult to choose...
Dear partners, good luck to you all!!!

The Greek logo

This is the Greek logo:

The sun represents light and wisdom. The eight beams represent the eight participant countries of this project. The eye is the clear look of the young people staring to their future in the E.U. That's why the symbol of the E.U. is inside the eye.

Our school tries to apply new techniques and activities that allow our students to participate actively in the learning process. To stimulate their interest we constantly look for new creative activities, to: a) make the lesson more attractive to teenagers and b) to mobilize them in values and attitudes required as future citizens and employees.
